The role of UCAS is to process applications for entry to all of the universities and college€s full time first degree, Diploma of Higher Education and HND courses. UCAS provides the process in which your application takes place.
All applications for entry are made through UCAS, with exception of students transferring from one course to another, within the same institution.
As an applicant you can make up to six university choices and these are entered on the UCAS entry form.
Each institution receives a reduced copy of your UCAS application form, they will consider the application and decide on an offer of a place; this will usually be conditional on the results of your examinations, or a rejection.
Applicants must wait until receiving decisions from all your applications before responding. You may make up to a maximum of two offers, one first choice which is your firm acceptance, conditional on exam results, or unconditional, together with an optional insurance choice. You may not hold any further choice if you firmly accept an offer.
On receipt of your examination results, institutions will make their final decision on each application, if you meet or exceed your condition of an offer a place must be made available to you. You will also find that institutions can use their own discretion whether to accept an application if you have not met the required offer.
The conditions of the offer must be satisfied by 31 August 2XXX unless otherwise stated applicants who fail to secure a place, or who apply after 30 June 2XXX are eligible to enter the clearing process.
