Profile Summary

After recently completing my degree at Bournemouth University, I consider myself to be a well-motivated and enthusiastic individual, and have illustrated this while at university, as I was the final year representative and the year two Netball captain. I am currently looking for a career in management, and see myself in three years as a senior manager for a successful London company.

Degree:

1995 - 1999 Bournemouth University BA (Hon's) Business Studies 2i

While studying at university I was hardworking, adaptable and resourceful, the course required me to be versatile and equipped me with a number of essentials skills such as communication, presentation, IT and general business skills, which are transferable to any business environment.

Key Achievements: Being a final year representative, required me to manage my time, organise meetings with other year representatives and report to the Deputy Year Head.

Skills: While at university I have developed a number of other skills. Leadership skills while representing my year, which also required me to communicate accurate information to course members and years heads. I also studied an additional evening course to enhance my language skills to further increase my career prospects.

Work Experience: Student Union Bar Bar Person

Starting in year one and leaving to concentrate on my studies in year three the student's union bar as well as allowing me to earn extra money, has required me to work with others as apart of a team. Here I was also responsible for cashing up the till at the end of the evening and training new staff.

College:

1993 - 1995 Bournemouth College BTEC National Business Studies Distinction

My experience at college helped me to develop my financial and accounting skills, as well as my general business awareness. Courses that I excelled in was statistics, accounting/finance and sales where I achieved over 60%.

Key Achievements: While in my second year at college I was responsible as part of a team of four in raising £1500 for the college, in the national Heinz Mini Marathon

Work Experience: Andrews Solicitors 8-Week Placement

Part of my course required me to do an 8-week placement, where I was an administrative assistance; this involved answering the telephone, word processing and creating a spreadsheet to calculate overtime.

IT Skills

I have a good range and understanding of all the Microsoft packages of which include, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint of which I have achieved a number of certificates City & Guilds and BTEC First while studying at college.

I am also competent in a number of graphic design packages including Corel Draw, PhotoShop which I have self-taught myself over the last year.

While at University I also developed the student unions web site as part of a team, which promoted different theme nights and also ran a number of promotions.


Languages

My extra evening course at university has helped me achieve an understanding of the French language, which allows me to converse confidently in French.


Hobbies

Food: Of a weekend I enjoy meeting with my friends and cooking, we do this on a regular basis, and take it in turns. I enjoy socializing and mixing with others.

Clubbing: I also enjoy going clubbing where I like to dance and enjoy meeting and drinking with my friends.

Reading: When I am trying to relax I enjoy reading, and have done this throughout my life; I find it helps develop my English and communications skills.

Travel: I enjoy travelling a great deal. I used my holidays at university to travel to Australia, New Zealand and Thailand. I found this a great experience, and it has helped me broaden my cultural knowledge and awareness.

Sports: I enjoy a variety of sports in particular netball, where I was part of a team that won the County Netball championships in 1998.
