At one time in your life you will require legal advice, whether buying a property or setting up a company. Lawyers advise, brief and act upon legal matters. Lawyers are generally either solicitors or barristers. What Qualifications Will You Need?
Your degree does not necessarily need to be law however this can be an advantage. If you don't have a law degree you will have to do a conversion course, called the Common Professional Exam (CPE). Barrister will need to Bar vocational course and a year doing a pupilage, within a set of chambers.
What Skills Will You Need?
Organisational skills are important as well as written and oral communication, as Lawyers spend a lot of time gathering information and drafting documents. Client focus is crucial, as you will need to listen and understand your clients, therefore good interpersonal skills will be essential.
