Internet

Are you enterprising and self-motivated with an innovative idea for a new internet-based business? Or do you have expertise in website design, maintenance or development? The rapid rise of the internet has led to new and exciting career opportunities for savvy graduates.

Setting up your own internet company has very low overheads and means you can be your own boss. It requires lots of research, self-motivation and determination but if you get the business model right it could lead to early business success.

Many pre-existing jobs have evolved to cater for the needs of internet business. For example, advertising sales and graphic design staff are now employed specifically for internet sites, while entirely new careers such as web development have been created over the last fifteen years. Web developers are concerned with the technical side of website creation and there is high demand for them across all the industries as organisations begin to fully realise the importance of having a strong online presence.

Setting up your own internet business can be immensely rewarding but it will require alot of hard graft to make it profitable and could involve long hours. It?s likely that you would work from home in the early stages before moving into an office environment as your team expands. Those employed in the internet industry tend to work normal office hours, though some evening and weekend work may be required for website testing. There are opportunities for remote working in the internet sector, and web developers sometimes work from home or on a freelance basis.
