Communications sector 'offers opportunities'
The communications industry will offer an increasing amount of support to the economy over the coming months, it has been claimed.
As a result, the anticipation surrounding the government's Digital Britain action plan is growing, according to first minister for communications, technology and broadcasting Lord Stephen Carter.
The initiative aims to ensure the UK stays at the forefront of innovation in the digital and communications market, something that could benefit those looking for graduate jobs within the sector.
Speaking at a Westminster media forum, Lord Carter stated: "The communications sector is a rare ray of light in an otherwise rather gloomy economic sky."
He noted that the industry offers opportunities as it is an international market and not just restricted to the UK.
The digital and communications sectors are worth over £52 billion a year and are increasingly significant to the British economy, according to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform.
