Construction industry 'picking up'
An improvement has been seen recently in the construction sector, it has been claimed, something that may offer a boost to those seeking graduate jobs in the industry.
A spokesperson for the Union of Construction, Allied Trades and Technicians stated that work has remained steady for larger schemes and infrastructure projects.
He noted that the situation in the sector remains difficult at present, but suggested that some positive signs have been recorded in the past few months.
Delays on jobs brought about by the economic downturn have begun to ease, he said, adding that plenty of work is "in the pipeline".
And the representative urged the government to implement a "large scale social house building programme to restore confidence to the house building industry".
Recently, Dr Noble Francis, economics director at the Construction Products Association, revealed that professionals in the industry - such as builders and electricians - tend to be "quite mobile" and can transfer their skills across a range of areas.
