Increased competition set to be created in legal industry

People in graduate jobs in the legal sector will continue to "thrive" if they can handle increased competition that is entering the marketplace, it has been stated.

Dominic Crossley, a spokesperson for Steeles Law, noted that companies such as supermarkets are starting to branch out into areas like personal injury claims, debt collection and conveyancing, offering higher competition in the legal industry.

He argued that the sector has been adapting to the changing times over the past ten to 15 years.

"Solicitors are becoming more and more specialised and the range of expertise within the legal profession is such that the term 'solicitor' covers such a wide variety of professionals," Mr Crossley remarked.

His comments came after the Legal Services Board announced its intentions to loosen regulation so that there can be a more competitive, consumer-led market.

The move may create new graduate jobs in the legal industry, through companies that are entering the sector for the first time.
