Tesco adds to graduate job scheme

Tesco is increasing the number of graduate schemes it offers to university leavers, it has been announced.

The supermarket revealed that it is adding two new offerings to the existing number of 15, something that may be welcomed by those looking to apply for graduate jobs.

Environmental engineering and telecoms are the focus of the additions and the company began accepting applications for the 2010-11 season last week, with the deadline set at December 31st.

Head of UK resourcing at the firm Lorna Bryson said that it saw a 41 per cent increase in the number of graduates that applied for places in 2009-10 when compared to the previous year.

"Opportunities for graduates within retail are extensive," she stated, adding that the company's schemes "offer a wide range of opportunities to next year's graduates".

Last month, Aldi announced it is extending its graduate job scheme with the creation of between 90 and 120 new positions across the UK.ADNFCR-1587-ID-19374254-ADNFCR
