Law firm's offering more graduate jobs
More law firms are offering trainees a graduate job after they complete their qualification, it has been revealed.
The top 30 law firms are set to retain an average of 81 per cent of qualified trainees this September, compared to 74 per cent in 2009, reports legalweek.com
So far, 22 businesses have disclosed the figures, with 15 announcing retention rates of over 80 per cent and four offering roles to 90 per cent of those who qualify in September.
Bryan Pickup, SJ Berwin graduate recruitment and trainee development partner, claimed job prospects are currently better compared to last year.
He told the news provider: "A year ago things were looking pretty bleak but now there is a sense that the economy on the whole is on a slow upward track.
"Our preference is always to retain people and now there is a feeling of being a bit more confident about the future."
Eversheds is set to retain 83 per cent of its trainees, while Ashurst will offer positions to 87 per cent.
