Businesses looking for women for IT graduate jobs
Women considering a career in IT will likely find they are in high demand when applying for graduate jobs.
According to one recruitment expert, most businesses are keen to take on more women in technological roles due to a distinct lack of existing female staff members in this field.
Maggie Berry, managing director of womenintechnology.co.uk, a career portal and networking site, explained that most firms do not receive as many applications for technology positions as they would like.
As a result of this, there are fewer women currently employed in IT positions.
"Most firms say: 'It's not that we don't want to hire women, it's that we never see them coming through the doors, we never see their CVs,'" she told those in attendance at the recent 360 IT conference.
"Most firms, when you talk to them, [say] they would love to see more women coming into their business."
The IT infrastructure event took place at London's Earl's Court Arena on September 22nd and 23rd.
People looking for graduate jobs were recently advised to search online as more companies choose to forego physical job advertisements in favour of virtual postings.
