Grad jobs beating the recession

The graduate jobs market has left the recession behind, especially in IT and financial services positions, say the Graduate Recruitment Bureau (GRB).

Dan Hawes, co-founder of the GRB said, "We are leaving the recession behind us and we are slowly noticing growth in different areas".
"There are certain sectors leading the way, like financial services, investment banking and the like.”

"IT, retail and FMCG [fast-moving consumer goods] are all areas we're very busy with at the moment," he added.

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation's latest JobsOutlook survey found that employers are cautiously positive about prospects for the coming 12 months, with 21% saying they will be adding to their headcounts this year.

But Hawes also highlighted that with the growing number of students graduating each year the fight for positions will be "quite competitive".
