75,000 applications in first week for Google graduate vacancies

Google received 75,000 applications in the first week their graduate vacancies were open.

The online giant announced the jobs in many departments of the business including advertising sales and customer support, product management and software engineering, earlier this year.

Last year was the second-biggest year of growth in staff levels in Google's history, with the company hiring 4,500 new people in roles, including on its graduate scheme.

The company is expected to take on 6,000 new staff members around the world this year.
