What causes it? A bacteria, which left untreated, can cause major strife.

How do I get it? By having unprotected sex with a new partner. However, the bacteria can lay dormant for a long time, so you could catch it from a long-standing partner.

What are the symptoms? Sometimes there are no symptoms, which makes this a bugger to detect. But if you have a burning sensation when you pee or get some nasty vaginal discharge, pay the doctor a visit. A sore throat can be another symptom.

What happens if its left untreated? This can be serious. In women it can cause pelvic inflammatory disease leading to infertility and men can also become sterile.

How do I find out if Ive got it? Just give your GP a urine sample and he/shell do the business.

Whats the cure? The good news is that chlamydia is easy to treat with antibiotics.

How can I avoid it? Use a condom or get yourself and your partner checked.
