More women hope to take MBAs

More women are aspiring to get into business school, bridging the gender gap in a once male-dominated field, suggests a survey of MBA hopefuls.

The survey by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), based on voluntary responses from students all over the world, found that 48% of those people wanting to attend business school were women, up from 46% in 2010 and 35% in 2006. Whist not necessarily reflecting actual enrolments these results do highlight a changing trend.

In Western Europe, the number of women hoping to take an MBA is even higher with 54% hoping to attend, according to the survey.

The study questioned nearly 4,000 prospective M.B.A. students and the respondents were drawn from registrants for the QS World Top MBA Tour.
