We give you the opportunity to work at a Canadian summer camp for 8-10 weeks during the North American summer. There are 800 residential and day camps in Canada, which are very similar to the camps in the U.S. The camps are spread out across eight provinces with the largest population of camps in Ontario. The first camps in Ontario started at the same time as camps in the US, between 1890 - 1900. There are over 300 summer camps currently operating in Ontario. The majority of the other 500 camps are located in Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia. This is a fantastic opportunity for an amazing summer experience. You will form close friendships and live in a beautiful setting in one of the most unspoiled parts of the world. Camp Counsellors RussiaEvery summer thousands of children head off for camps across Russia, from the shores of Lake Baikal to the beaches of the Black Sea. Each camp has its own philosophy, but all provide children a place to relax while having fun in an outdoor setting. In many ways, these camps resemble those in the United States and Canada. They are usually located in rural settings, miles away from the nearest town. Typically, a camp will have a large dining hall, crafts, sports buildings, and dormitories. Children usually come for sessions lasting 10 to 28 days. Many camp activities take place in the beautiful Russian countryside, often by a lake or river, which provides a glorious setting for swimming, boating and canoeing. Other activities may include theater, land sports, arts, crafts, dance, and the performing arts. You will be volunteering to work with children, sharing your culture and language while learning theirs as well. In most cases, you will work as support staff helping wherever needed. You receive free room and board throughout the program. These are considered volunteer positions because you are paid the same as your fellow Russian counselors, which may only work out to be a very small stipend. You may indicate at your interview if you would prefer one position to the other. | |
