
PURPOSE OF JOB
Reporting to the regional media and communities manager, the post holder will support the Long Products communication function in delivering and communicating a community programme that has a positive impact on the company's neighbours, and develops positive perceptions of the organisation in the wider community.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To assist the media and communities manager in managing media and community events
- To provide administrative support to the media and communities manger to ensure the community programme runs efficiently
- To respond to requests from members of the public for information about the community programme
- To process applications from members of the public from application through to delivery.
- To develop working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- To work with teams across all sites in the Long Products hub to deliver effective community activities and events tailored towards the needs of the individual sites
- Supporting the delivery of high quality, creative external campaigns to promote the company's work in the community and enhance its reputation as a local employer and good neighbour
- To monitor coverage in local, national and regional media, and provide internal stakeholders with a regular update on this activity
- To work closely with colleagues in the internal communications team to develop ways of engaging employees in the community programme and share information with them
- To draft articles and press releases to promote the community programme internally and externally.

The purpose of this role is to provide support to the media and communities manager to ensure the programme is delivered efficiently and effectively.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Undergraduate in public relations / event management / communications / marketing
- Some previous experience of working for a private sector company an advantage
- Must demonstrate understanding of the need for multi-national companies to develop strong community relations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills essential
- Must be confident enough to influence people on all levels
- Knowledge/experience of manufacturing sector beneficial
- Ability to work under pressure and to effectively manage a busy workload
- Good time manager
- Strong team player
- Must be willing to provide creative ideas for the future development of the community programme.
