Customer Systems is a highly specialised IT consulting firm operating alongside suppliers of leading application software packages.
We are currently recruiting Application Consultants for immediate starts.
After the initial training period, which is typically 4 to 8 weeks, we aim to get you involved in a real customer project as soon as possible. The actual work obviously varies with your experience and the customer's needs but typically involves:
• working with the customer to understand their requirements and working out the best way of implementing those requirements in Siebel or Actuate
• configuring Siebel or Actuate to the customer's requirements
• transferring knowledge to the customer about the work that we have performed for them
It is important that you are comfortable with the idea of a job that combines a lot of technical content with a high degree of customer interaction. On average the work is about 75% technical and 25% non-technical.
To be considered for this role, you will need:
• A good degree in a numerate discipline (normally 2:1 or above from a reputable institution) or in the case of undergraduates, a realistic expectation thereof. (Our existing consultants include graduates in various engineering disciplines, the sciences, maths, computing, business / management and others. Around half of our consultants have a masters or a PhD)
• 3 serious A-levels at good grades (normally A/B). We are quite happy to look at parallel international qualifications, but please give us as much information about your grades as possible
• Some exposure to programming: a huge amount of experience is not necessary, but you do need to have convinced yourself that you have a flair for it
• The presentability, articulacy and presence for customer and prospect contact
• Enthusiasm, determination and a sense of “mission”
• Self-reliance and willingness to travel during the working week both within the UK and internationally
Any sort of professional work experience e.g. an industrial placement is a distinct advantage, and knowledge of European languages is a plus.
Salary:
If you join as a new or recent graduate, we start you on a package of £33k comprising a basic salary of £28k and a car allowance of £5,040 (or you can opt for a company car instead).
Within 6 months, assuming normal progress, you should be on a basic of at least £34k, plus a bonus of about £5,300, plus either a car allowance of £5040 or a company car, making a total package of at least £46k. On top of this, we make a contribution of up to 5% of basic salary on a matching basis into your own personal pension scheme, and there is also a discretionary Christmas bonus in most years.
When you are on an assignment some distance from the office, then all accommodation and subsistence costs are covered. Most long-distance assignments allow you to get back every weekend.
Relocation allowances are available for people moving into the area.
Note that car allowance is paid conditional upon you providing and maintaining a car to business standards.
• We are happy to apply for work permits for non-residents
• We are happy to take people making use of the "Post-Study-Work" or IGS schemes
• We do internships (but for a minimum of 10 months)
• We are very happy with any numerate or scientific degree - not just computer science
• We really do give you a lot of responsibility at a very early stage of your career
