Look beyond the label. The perception that we only offer McJobs is well-documented. The reality of what it’s like to work here and become one of our managers isn’t nearly as well-known. We hope that this will start to redress the imbalance.
McRespectedOne of the Times 100 Graduate Employers for the last seven years, McDonald’s is recognised all over the world and is a part of everyday life for many people in the UK. Indeed, with more than 1200 restaurants in this country, we’re a £billion business over here that employs around 70,000 people.
McTraining Yet as well known as our brand is, management here will still surprise you. Far from simply supervising people on the shop floor, our managers are fully-fledged commercial leaders.
Join us a Trainee Business Manager and you’ll set your sights on becoming a Business Manager running your own restaurant. You’ll soon discover that this will be like managing your own business. You’ll shape every aspect of the operation. You’ll set targets, plan budgets, control stock, recruit and train your team, create local marketing campaigns and build links with the local community.
Given that many of our restaurants have a £million turnover and a 60-strong team this will be a sizeable responsibility. It’s no accident that the training’s second to none. Reflecting the latest management thinking, our 20 week development programme will help you get to grips with every element of running a restaurant.
You’ll learn about finance, marketing, HR and the way we work in our restaurants. The programme will begin with invaluable hands-on operational experience, but it will also help you to broaden your commercial outlook. You’ll become an expert in subjects such as cash control, people development, maximising profit and leadership.
Importantly, learning here doesn’t mean reading the manual. You’ll build your leadership and business skills through a variety of the latest development techniques. These will include on-the-job mentoring from experienced managers, online learning and external training initiatives at our Management Training Centres.
