NATS - Kieran Clark - Engineering Technician

Kieran Clark
I got an HND in Electronics at the City of Glasgow College. I then applied for the Engineering Technician Scheme at NATS and was delighted to be offered a place.

I'm based in the Service Line Support team at the Prestwick Centre in Ayrshire. So far I'm really enjoying it.

The scheme lasts 18 months and you get a lot of opportunities to see and learn about engineering in the business. I have completed courses in ATC Familiarisation, Surveillance Radar, Practical Radar and Data and Voice Communications - so I've been pretty busy.

There's obviously a lot to learn in a complex business like air traffic control, but I'm hoping to remain in NATS and build my expertise over coming years. At the moment I really enjoy the ‘hands on’ work involved in service engineering, and think I would like to pursue a career specialising as a Service Engineer in the Communications and Navigation Aid domain.

If you're interested in pursuing a career in engineering, then I'd thoroughly recommend the NATS Engineering Technician Scheme. The knowledge and experience I've gained has been fantastic.
