Job Description

Sainsbury's is more than just a food retailer; it is a diverse business that enjoys universal appeal and a rich 140 year heritage. As one of the top retailers in the FTSE 100 there are a number of different ways for graduates to get involved. It is looking for exceptional graduates that will help bring fresh talent and ideas to the business and who are hungry to play a part of its continued success.

What does the scheme involve?
The Sainsbury's IT division goes from strength to strength: from delivering an industry leading online shopping experience to supporting our store expansion programmes, we're always looking for technology that delivers improvements to this fastpaced environment. That's why we need to find tomorrow's IT leaders now.

Voted Best Place to Work in IT within the Retail Sector for the second year in a row, our 18-month scheme will give you the skills you need to thrive in a business where the only constant is change. After your store placement you'll be based in our London Store Support Centre where you'll influence the plans and shape the projects that underpin our progress, from optimising our supply chain systems to enhancing the customer experience through technology.

What are we looking for?
A talent for building relationships, and the ability to communicate is more important than technical expertise, but previous IT work experience will help. If you share our passion and believe IT can improve our customers' experience, we can give you an introduction to our business that's simply unbeatable.

You'll need a minimum 2.1 degree in business or retail management, or IT management for business.

What skills will you develop?

As well as the skills that you will accrue through taking responsibility for the delivery of important IT business projects, you will develop real insight into the retail environment, learn important leadership skills and develop a strong IT foundation.

What are the benefits?

  • £25k starting salary Discretionary annual bonus
  • 22 days holiday and 10% staff discount after six months
  • Promotion after 18 months
  • Opportunities to make a powerful impact on a real business
  • Work within a fast-paced retail environment
  • Opportunity to work within all key areas of IT
