What does the scheme involve?
We have an ambitious plan to expand, investing in our stores and growing in new markets. That's why the Location Planning team perform such a vital function - to ensure we deliver the right space, strategically and financially for our business and our customers.

You'll spend 4 months in Retail gaining exposure to the realities of a large retailing environment. You'll then move to our London Store Support Centre where you will be taking into consideration factors such as demographics, competition, and size of market to influence strategy, estimate sales, provide recommendations to the board and build relationships with the retail and property teams. A further two month retail placement towards the end of your scheme will allow you to understand how your role affects Retail, ensuring by the end of the scheme you will have developed the skills and capabilities needed to help you thrive as a Senior Location Planning Analyst.

What are we looking for?
Highly motivated, organised people, with a keenness to learn. The ability to apply analytical skills in a spatial environment and an interest in retail and demographics.

You will also need a minimum 2:2 degree preferably in Geography with some experience of utilising a Geographical Information System (GIS), although other disciplines such as Retail Management, Business Management or Town Planning will also be considered.

You will require a driving license to travel around the country visiting sites.

What skills will you develop?
By the end of the 3 years you will have;

  • proficiency in a variety of sales forecasting methodologies and location planning techniques
  • sound knowledge of a GIS system
  • the ability to think strategically
  • commercial awareness excellent analytical skills
  • general knowledge of the UK retail sector
  • excellent grasp of UK geography
