What's happening in General Merchandise?
It's a huge growth area for Sainsbury's at the moment. Even though the UK is in a recession, business is booming. There are huge opportunities for graduates in all areas of General Merchandise from Stationary to Electricals.

Last year we created a new Non-Food Centre of Excellence in Coventry and graduates across the Midlands are showing a keen interest in joining us. We're looking for buyers, technologists and merchandisers.

What does the scheme involve?
The role of the Merchandiser is to manage the flow of goods from the UK supply base into the warehouses and stores, enabling stores to meet their sales, stock, markdown and availability targets.

After your retail placement you'll return to the Coventry Store Support Centre where you'll complete placements to learn the ropes of stock holding, range building, promotions and forecasting. You'll be spending time with a wide range of people, including buyers, technologists, suppliers and our colleagues in the supply chain to help you gain all the skills that you need to be a great Merchandiser.

What are we looking for?
You will have a flair for following through obsessively and delivering results, in addition to 2.1 or above from any degree discipline.
