Job Description

What does the scheme involve?
Product technologists ensure that we offer healthy, safe, fresh and tasty food. They work closely with our product developers and suppliers to produce the best products for our customers, focusing on ensuring that quality and safety remain high on every agenda.

You'll return from your retail placement to the London Store Support Centre, Where you'll complete a number of placements in product safety, packaging, depot inspection and health. Building relationships with suppliers is important, so you may also spend a placement externally with one of them. You will then take ownership of a product area, where you will have a vital role in making decisions about what we sell.

For up to twelve months post graduation and prior to full time employment, graduates could travel the world while working with different Sainsbury's suppliers and partners.

What are we looking for?
Your passion for food will be clear from previous food-related work experience. We are looking for talented graduates who have a 2.1 or above degree relating to Food, such as Food Science, Technology, Marketing, or Food Chemistry. We are also keen to hear from you if you have a degree in Microbiology or Nutrition.

What skills will you develop?
You'll gain insight into sustainability, food and the law and health and the environment, an invaluable understanding of Sainsbury's Technical Management System and develop business skills including presentation, time management, and negotiation and people influencing.
