Job Description

Sainsbury's is more than just a food retailer; it is a diverse business that enjoys universal appeal and a rich 140 year heritage. As one of the top retailers in the FTSE 100 there are a number of different ways for graduates to get involved. It is looking for exceptional graduates that will help bring fresh talent and ideas to the business and who are hungry to play a part of its continued success.

What does the scheme involve?
The Retail Scheme is an opportunity for fast-paced development with the potential to progress to Deputy Store Manager within two years. We have identified training stores around the country. These designated 'Centres of Development Excellence' are fully equipped to give you the support, training and experience you need.

You'll manage a store with multi-million pound turnover, have responsibility for over 300 colleagues and over 30,000 products. Having learnt the basics, you'll be running your first department by Christmas. You'll then experience our Fresh Foods, Services, Clothing and Online operations, as well as the challenges of our Convenience business.

Whichever department you're in, you'll be working with your team to drive sales, identify ways to reduce wastage and improve your store's profitability. Or supporting Comic Relief by dressing up as a tomato. Our Retail Scheme is designed to train retail leaders of the future, but how far and fast you go is up to you.

What are we looking for?
The stretching scheme will develop your leadership and coaching skills, and provide exposure to all areas of the retail operation. This will ensure that by the end of the scheme you will have progressed to become a Deputy Store Manager and a retail leader of the future.
