Teach First

Do you believe that a child’s background should not limit the opportunities they have in education and in life? We do, and it will take a movement of leaders across society who are committed to ending educational inequality to make this vision a reality.

Change has started to happen, but we need inspirational graduates to work with our partners to make sure this progress continues.

What is Teach First?

Teach First is a social enterprise registered as a charity which aims to address educational disadvantage in England and Wales. We coordinate an employment-based teaching training programme whereby participants achieve Qualified Teacher Status through the participation in a two-year training programme that involves the completion of a PGCE along with wider leadership skills training and an optional master's degree.

We recruit from all over the world and place participants in teaching jobs with schools in England and Wales. Wherever you’re teaching, you’ll find that Teach First participants form close-knit supportive groups and enjoy rich and varied lives outside work.

A career-defining opportunity

Developed in collaboration with leading schools and universities, the Leadership Development Programme combines world-class teacher and leadership training, leading to a qualification that formally recognises your advanced skills in both teaching and leadership. The two-year paid programme is based on global best practice and research and refined through more than 14 years of experience and feedback from leading employers, teaching experts and, of course, previous participants.

During the programme you’ll gain a fully-funded Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), covering both education and leadership, and worth double the credits of a PGCE, to become a qualified teacher. You’ll also acquire the key skills and personal qualities needed to develop you into an effective leader - someone who can make a real impact.

If you can inspire in the classroom, you can bring resilience, efficiency and imagination to any environment, no matter where your career takes you. Learn more HERE.

Future leaders

Over 10,000 people have joined the LDP so far. Many have remained in the classroom and many others are working in leadership roles across all sectors of the economy. What they all have in common is a belief that every child should have equal opportunities in education and in life, and the knowledge they are contributing towards this goal.
