Job Description
Language Assistant Spain is a cultural exchange programme. Participants are placed in a Spanish family home (based mainly within the suburbs of Madrid). The programme allows participants to become a part of a family, and in exchange for a room, and three meals a day, (as well as the chance to learn some Spanish) ? participants are required to spend three hours each evening teaching English to the family members (usually the children).

Living and working with a host family in Spain, offers participants the opportunity to experience a deep insight into the Spanish culture, lifestyle and traditions. As participants only have to teach English for three hours each weekday evening, to enhance their stay many of them also choose to find paid part-time employment elsewhere, or spend their days sight-seeing, or attending Spanish language classes.

The Language Assistant Spain programme is one of WAVA?s most popular work placements abroad. Living and working with the family that you teach, essentially provides you with a family-centred experience away from home.

It is not compulsory to know any Spanish in order to take part in this work programme, so the experience is a great opportunity for native English speakers to learn (or improve) their Spanish language skills whilst out there.
