Bunac launches new internships abroad programme

One of the UK's leading providers of overseas work placements, summer camp adventures and gap year experiences, BUNAC has announced the launch of a brand new Internships Abroad programme, with the first salaried placements due to start in April 2011.

Designed to provide career-enhancing skills and invaluable hands-on work experience, particularly for students and graduates aged 18 plus, the first internships available are aimed at those wishing to work in the catering and hospitality industries.

Successful candidates for the Internships Abroad programme will be given the opportunity to work for three to nine months in a hotel or lodge situated in a beautiful location in one of five national and state parks in Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Virginia or Washington.

Interns will receive formal training in advanced culinary skills, improve their knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and sanitation, and learn how to succeed in a fast-paced culinary environment.  In addition, rotational training will be provided in gourmet food and beverage, as well as the chance to train more independently in the food production process.

Comments BUNAC Director Callum Kennedy:  "The new Internships Abroad programme is a great way for university-level students, graduates and those looking to kick-start their careers to gain experiential education in a fantastic setting in the US."

He continues:  "BUNAC organises a secure job with a competitive salary, pre- arranges accommodation, helps to smooth the visa application process, sorts out travel and health insurance and provides 24-hour support for interns during their work placements.  What's more, when they have completed their internship, the successful candidates have up to 30 days to enjoy travelling around the US. It's a win-win situation!"

Applications for the Culinary Internships must be received by 31st January 2011.
