Your questions answered

How much time does it take?
Most of our postgraduate courses are worth either 30 or 60 points. A six month 30-point course will take around 12 hours of study a week, and a nine month 60 point course will take around 16 hours a week.

How long will it take to get my masters degree?
Most students spend three years working towards their masters, although lots take a little longer, with breaks in between. If you want to move a bit quicker, you could fast-track your study but you'd need to talk to an adviser first.

Can I get help with the cost?
As a postgraduate student, you won't be eligible for support for fees or most study costs, but you could apply for a Career Development Loan to help you through your course. If you're an Open University graduate, support may be available from the Crowther Fund. Click www.openuniversity.co.uk/financialsupport for more information.

To make things a bit easier, you can also pay for your course in instalments. Click www.openuniversity.co.uk/ousba for more information.

Can you help students with disabilities or additional requirements?
The Open University is just that - open. We support over 10,000 students each year with disabilities, health conditions, mental health disabilities or specific learning difficulties. You could also be eligible for the government's Disabled Students' Allowance - click www.openuniversity.co.uk/disability to find out more.

"You do need dedication, hard work, discipline and motivation but I can't imagine life without the OU. I'm currently doing my MA in Education and have also become an associate lecturer teaching other OU students. I love it so much I'm spreading the word - I've even got my mum doing a course now!"
