Sainsbury’s is a leading FTSE 100 company and a very high-profile name in a fast-moving market. The success of our ‘Making Sainsbury’s Great Again’ review, has seen the company’s profits rise by 40% and sales by more than 6.9%. The success of the brand re-launch, and the suggestion to customers that they “try something new today” has been a resounding success in re-establishing us in the hearts and minds of our customers. But it doesn’t stop there, as we move forward our plans continue at pace.
In store, customers are experiencing a significant improvement in our offer. Price, product range, quality and service have all been subject to reviews: the 16 million customers who now shop with us on a weekly basis are testament to their success.
Our schemes offer exceptional graduates the opportunity to develop leadership qualities, to gain practical business skills, and to increase their capabilities through formal and informal training, all within the context of a fast-paced retail organization. Everyone works on real business issues from day one, so there’s an enormous amount of responsibility, and that means there’s the chance to make a real difference.
You can choose from 10 schemes, each with its own structure and – in some cases – professional qualification. The roles are in Buying, Customer & Marketing, Finance, HR, IT, Product Development and Technology, Supply Chain, Commercial and Property, Retail and summer placements. So you will have to decide which one is right for you.
An essential element of every scheme is a three to six-month in-store placement. We believe that without the grounding and context that exposure to the hectic realities of a busy retail environment provides, expertise in any area, from HR to IT, isn’t gained without understanding its impact on the people at the very heart of our business; our customers.
To help us build on this success we need to find a diverse group of exceptional graduates, able to bring fresh commitment, talent and ideas to the company.
We need bright, savvy people, who love the buzz of retail and are hungry for success. Understanding the various disciplines deployed in getting the right product on the right shelf at the right time, or in creating a store fit for the 21st Century is an intellectual challenge that the curious mind will relish.
You should have instinct as well as intellect, personality as well as professionalism. A love of good food will help. Caring about quality is important. And an ability to work brilliantly in a team is a must. But above all we want exceptionally motivated and creative people ready to add value to the business.
Starting salary:
