University Clearing - Advice On Entry To University

Finding out your A-Level results can be a nerve racking, and there is a chance you might not get the results you needed to get the university place you wanted. But not to worry, there is another chance.

Many universities still offer places through clearing. It begins in August around results week and helps over 330,000 students successfully secure university places each year.

Who goes through clearing?

Clearing is a service available between July and September, but for most people it is used after the exam results are published in August. You are eligible for clearing if you have withdrawn your original UCAS application, have no offers or if you have not achieved the grades required to take up your offers.

Getting a place through clearing

Whilst looking at available places through clearing you should talk to the admissions staff at the university to find out if they can offer you a place. If you are successful then you'll need to provide your clearing number.

Your university place will only be confirmed once you receive a confirmation letter. This will be done once the University contacts UCAS.
