Once you finish sixth form or college, you will find that the majority of your friends will be preparing to go to university. The idea of more years in education might be daunting but time at university offers you the chance to meet new people and gain new opportunities and experience.
Why go to university?
Many careers require a degree as part of the qualifications needed to progress into that field. Examples of this include lawyers, dentists and doctors. The learning structure in higher education is different from school and further education. You will be given more freedom and are expected to do more work yourself. However, lecturers will provide you with guidance and support.
Socialising and making new friends is a key part of the university experience. A lot of students see university has a place for constant partying but it is important that you study as much as you party.
Universities have a variety of clubs and societies to get involved with. These are a great way to meet new friends and socialise with people who share similar interests to you.
Sometimes people's decision to go to university is so that they can move out of home. Living at university gives you the freedom of living independently.
