Delhi
I can't stop eating the food here; its so delicious, much nicer than at home. I never thought I could eat such spicy food every day...but I also thought Id get homesick and so far, I haven't. I think this is because I know were returning home sooner than originally anticipated.
The 5-hour journey to Delhi today was fascinating, as always. We passed lots of sugar-cane filled carts and lorries, oil refineries, wild boar running across the highway, men on bicycles holding onto the back of trucks doing 60 or 70 km/hour, dead, upturned cows with birds and dogs picking at the remains, intricately designed temples and mosques in the middle of fields, mud-huts, and so on...every walk of life imaginable! I even saw my first snake (and porcupine!)-charmer today. He nipped up next to me whilst I was taking a photo, and for a split second I was scared, and then I nonchalantly walked back to the car. Its amazing how unshockable one becomes...its a strange experience, quite nice really.
I am quite excited about our journey to Dharamsala, The Indian Railway network is the fourth largest in the world, and we will be going up some steep and narrow paths I believe.
Im looking forward to a decent night's sleep, (I doubt that I will get it tonight though), as last night a Bollywood film was being shot at our hotel. This entailed singing until 5am!
I hope that you are all well & happy,
Much love
Sam (& Emily too)
