New report shows the top companies for graduate employment

It’s that time of year again when all of the worried third year students and new graduates have to start trawling the internet for grad-schemes and job vacancies without the first clue about what they’re really looking for.

Well new research from thejobcrowd.com has highlighted the ‘The Top Companies For Graduates To Work For’. Here are the top five from that list:

1) Microsoft
Receiving a whopping 4.73/5 average rating, information technology and telecoms gurus Microsoft are the perfect people with whom you should try and find your first job. Reviews from graduates at Microsoft found that most commonly people referred to it as “the best working environment I have ever experienced”. Not bad for a graduate job.

2) Newton Europe
Specialising in operational and financial improvement, Newton Europe offer a fun and friendly working space. Two of the four categories it scored 5/5 in were ‘Enjoyment’ and ‘Company Culture’. With social events throughout the year and evermore entertaining colleagues, the reviews of this company make it seem almost too good to believe.

3) National grid
Entering the realm of engineering can often be a daunting prospect, but the National Grid has proved to offer all the support needed to make this as easy and enjoyable as possible. The word on the graduates’ lips from this business are that “everyone is so helpful, approachable and very enthusiastic” that you can’t help but fit right in.

4) FDM Group
Although perhaps not as well known as Microsoft, the FDM Group offers Information Technology and Telecoms graduates very promising opportunities. “An incredibly friendly and positive place to work”, it seems that this industry is a positive place to work all around. FDM Group seems to have a family feeling to it where graduates say they all work and play hard together in an environment that’s pleasing and successful.

5) The Co-Operative Group
One of the most diverse companies in the retail world, the Co-operative is ever-expanding while always retaining its ethical values. With an impressive 4.9/5 for ‘Environmental and Ethical Awareness’, this company’s moral and ethical values play a huge contributing role to the motivation of its staff. Graduates have said that the feeling this company has of “contributing to the wider community” pushes staff to remain all the more passionate about their work. They also hold regular communal volunteering weekends and fundraising events.
