Consumer goods giant Unilever recently launched its Spring Programme aimed at finding outstanding University students in their first year or Second Year of a four year degree.

Named Graduate Employer of Choice in Marketing by The Times Graduate Recruitment Awards 2012, Unilever is one of the world’s leading suppliers of fast moving consumer goods generating profits of almost £30billioni n 2011 alone.

They operate in over 100 countries, with products being used over two billion times a day. In other words, getting onto a graduate scheme with such a company would open a world of career opportunities for those interested in this sector.

The Spring Programme which consists of a three-day course of business challenges aims to attract and find brilliant potential candidates for their graduate programme. A fast-track to such a graduate scheme is available following successful acceptance and completion of a 12 week or 12 month placement at Unilever the following year.

Orla Meade, Graduate Attraction Specialist at Unilever UK and Ireland explains, “With the recent hike in university fees students … are looking to secure jobs earlier to maximise the investment in university education”.

First year Business Management and Communications student at the University of Birmingham, Bea Martins 18, said, “There is a certain feeling of relief that there exists an opportunity in your first year of University that means you can potentially have a secured job before you even Graduate.”

This programme is aimed at students studying within the business faculties: marketing, customer management, financial management, and supply chain management.
Applications for the Spring Programme and Unilever’s graduate programme (UFLP) are now open for a 2013 start. For more information, visit www.unilever.co.uk/graduates.
