Job Description

In a nutshell

The National Student (TNS) is the national voice of students.

Getting a job in the media is a hard slog, and making that slog a little easier is what we at TNS are all about! And we do a good job! People who have got involved with TNS now sit at desks at the BBC, NME, the Guardian and one is a newly published author.

We are part of Big Choice Group, who with 10 years of media experience, work with cool brands like Smirnoff, Superdry, McDonalds, Orange, Red Bull, boohoo, BBC and Microsoft. TNS gets to work with them too - which we like!

TNS just keeps getting BIGGER, and we are looking for two talented Campus Editors (one News and one Sport) on each university campus.

What do TNS Campus Editors get?
We want our people to get the most out of working with TNS, and that doesn't just mean media-experience! Journalists get some pretty cool perks, and at TNS that is no different. So what do you get for working for us?
- All successful editors will get a yearly trip to Beach Break Live festival
- Monthly performance incentives - You do the job for us, we give you stuff! These can include CDs, DVDs, books, clothing, crates of Relentless and other freebies.

- TNS editors will get to do some exciting things:

Assignments given to TNS writers over the last six months include:
1. Press trip to Malta for Malta Music week (5 days)
2. Press trip to Holland (Rotterdam and Utrect) for Holland Art Cities promotion (2 days)
3. A-Team movie press conference
4. Lauren Pritchard album industry showcase run by Island Records
5. The Mercury Music Prize launch
6. Paranormal Activity 2 launch event and overnight stay in London
7. Leeds Festival VIP/press passes
8. Passes to festivals: Download, Summer Sundae, Sonisphere, Latitude, Bestival etc.
9. Regular press screenings of new films
10. Regular access to gigs and concerts
11. Fashion PR events

- Chat to big name celebrities. In the past TNS journalists have interviewed the likes of Muse, PJ Harvey, Simon Pegg, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Kylie Minogue, Bradley Cooper, Mark Ronson and Flo-Rida.
- Chance to network with other people in the media and in PR.
- Work published in an established and respected title.
- An all important quality reference after uni.
