The RoleInternet for Learning (IFL) provides internet connectivity and value added services to approx 8000 customers.
We are looking for a graduate Systems Engineer to be part of the systems team, responsible for the monitoring and management of IFL core services, WAN centres and regional services located throughout the UK. As part of this team you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining and monitoring a range of telecoms, server, network and related infrastructure. The current team is responsible for a large network inventory.
Responsibilities• Provide support for IFL's range of Internet products through application of practical knowledge of Cisco routers and switches, MS Windows NT/2K, IIS, Linux, Checkpoint and Cisco firewalls, Legato Networker and other related technologies.
• Provide direct support to customers resolving escalated support issues.
• Provide On call out of hours services on a shift rota basis to support all IFL systems.
• Provide escalation and resolution services for IFL support and other RM technical teams as required.
• Service Level Agreement reporting and process documenting, including publishing on the Intranet technical support material and documents that will assist other RM departments
• Bespoke project work, including design, implementation and commissioning of Internet related infrastructure, systems, procedures, processes and strategic change controls.

Qualifications & ExperienceA minimum of a 2:1 honours degree in an IT related subject.
260 UCAS tariff points or equivalent .
Preferred experience will include:• An interest and understanding of network and Internet related technologies
• Some technical knowledge and limited experience of all of the following Cisco routers and switches, TCP/IP and MS Windows Server.
• Basic technical understanding of at least three of the following technologies DNS, Internet connectivity (ISDN/ADSL, Leased Lines, etc), Linux, backup and restore technology, web caching, proxies, SMNP and POP3/SMTP
