The Role
Network Development develops a wide range of ambitious infrastructure and application software for the educational ICT market.
Community Connect 4 (CC4) is a client server network developed for Primary schools, Secondary schools and further education. The network has industry standard Microsoft software at its core. On top of this, RM has developed software to make management of the network, and use by students easier in education establishments. Systems engineers in the department cover an interesting variety of roles. These can include areas such as designing Active Directories for WAN based networks, designing Microsoft Exchange systems or automating the installation and configuration of system software.
The solutions the team design range from single server networks to enterprise domains for an LEA encompassing 100s of Schools and 10,000s of users. An example of one of the project that the team is currently working on is to deliver a web based portal solution to 1.5 million pupils, teachers and parents across the whole of Scotland.
