Sainsbury’s is a leading FTSE 100 company and a very high-profile name in a fast-moving and highly competitive market. The success of our recently completed ‘Making Sainsbury’s Great Again’ review, has seen the company’s sales grown by £2.7b and profits double. The success of the brand re-launch has been a resounding success in re-establishing us in the hearts and minds of our customers, and we now have more than 16.5m customer shopping with us. But it doesn’t stop there, as we grow our business, our plans continue at pace to improve the customer shopping experience.
To help us to achieve our plans, we need to find a diverse group of exceptional graduates, able to bring fresh commitment, talent and ideas to the company.
We need bright, savvy people, who, regardless of their particular field of interest, love the buzz of retail and are hungry for success. Caring about quality is important. And an ability to work brilliantly in a team is a must. But above all we want exceptionally motivated and creative people ready to add value to the business. One of Sainsbury’s key values is ‘respect for the individual’; this value supports our culture of ensuring that everyone – colleagues and customers – feel valued and respected in everything we do.
Our schemes offer exceptional graduates the opportunity to develop leadership qualities, to gain practical business skills, and to increase their capabilities through formal and informal training, all within the context of a fast-paced retail organisation. Everyone works on real business issues from day one with the chance to make a real difference.
There are a variety of opportunities to develop your career with us at Sainsbury’s. Our Retail graduate scheme aims to develop you to become a Duty Manager, part of the senior leadership team in our stores, within 18 months, at one of our designated Centres of Excellence around the country. The expansion of our Non-Food operation in Coventry has created opportunities in Non-Food Buying, Finance, Merchandising and Product Technology based in Coventry. In addition, there are opportunities in Customer and Marketing, Logistics IT, Buying (Food), Product Technology (Food), Product Development (Food), Human Resources, Information Technology, Commercial, Location Planning and Property. Summer and one year placements are also available in various schemes, please check our website for more information.
For graduates joining our schemes based in the Store Support Centre, Logistics and Coventry, an essential element is a four to six-month store placement. Whatever role you’re in and however specialised your skills, your number one priority will be understanding how your role affects the customer shopping experience as well as helping the company to increase sales. This is a real business that runs on getting the basics right, and there’s no better place to learn that than out in a busy store.
