We offer industry recognised lifelong learning through our Academy, reinforced by comprehensive rewards and benefits.

By making the choice to become part of our great people, you will join a diverse workforce and inclusive culture that allows everyone to be involved in our long term vision - ‘to create a sustainable future by bringing engineering to life’.

During your placement, all of your theoretical learning will be put into context as you apply what you have learnt on a live project, gain valuable work experience and knowledge to complement your studies, and really make a valued contribution to the projects that we work on. In addition, the contacts that you make can become helpful resources when you are back at university.

With a long history of successful placements, many of our staff have joined us on placement and progressed to our graduate programme on achievement of their degree.

There is also the opportunity for financial sponsorship for the remainder of your studies aimed at top performers.

If you have joined us as a graduate or have completed an apprenticeship programme or placement with us, our graduate programme offers structured development, tailored to meet your skills, experience and ambitions.

During your programme, you will be placed on a project that:

  • Empowers you to grow your skills
  • Assists you to undertake a broader role in developing your understanding
  • Encourages your long term career opportunities and aspirations

Your time will be spent on exciting and varied projects, supported by highly knowledgeable and professionally qualified staff to develop your capabilities. To ensure that you gain wide-ranging experience and understanding in our business to prepare you for your future career, your development will be further reinforced through high quality lifelong learning, provided by our in-house Academy.

We have well-established relationships with a range of professional institutions and industry partners and this has enabled us to innovate and remain at the forefront of helping our graduates to achieve professional qualifications, offering alternatives to formal academic study.

Civil engineering graduates

Starting as an assistant engineer you will progress to incorporated (IEng) and chartered engineer (CEng) status of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Your programme will include approximately two years’ work experience under supervision, followed by up to one year in a design office. This may be with our internal design team or a recognised consulting engineer’s practice, from our network of design partners and key clients.

We offer a route to chartered engineer status for Higher National Diploma (HND) and Bachelors (BSc or BEng) candidates that does not require further academic study and the associated costs.

Quantity surveying graduates

Starting as an assistant quantity surveyor you will progress to corporate member status and of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineer Surveyors (ICES).

Your programme will include approximately three years’ work experience under supervision.

Our ongoing learning provides for Engineering Council registration, to achieve technician (EngTech), incorporated (IEng) or chartered engineer (CEng) status.

Our primary professional institution for quantity surveying is ICES but graduates wishing to follow a route to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) will also be supported and encouraged within our programme of professional development.

Geotechnical engineers
