We built our first home in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1958. Since then, we've built over 400,000 more, becoming one of Britain’s largest and best known home builders in the process.
The Way We Work
We don’t just want to be part of the future of house building. We want to lead the change. We want to make it happen.
This is a bold vision, and a challenging one, because if we’re really going to put customers front and centre, we'll have to change the way we think, as well as the way we work. And we’ll be judged by our actions, not our promises.
This is why we’ve set some new priorities for the business, and backed them up with a clear set of principles to ensure we act responsibly, not just now but in the long term.
This is an exciting time for our industry and for the Barratt Group. We have a great future – one that will offer a whole host of exciting opportunities for the people who come and join us.
What We Offer
We understand the importance of providingg each and every one of our employees with the opportunity to develop their skills and achieve their ambitions. That’s why everyone within the Barratt Group, without exception, has access to learning and career development, and is actively encouraged to fulfil their potential.
Our graduate programmes
As a new graduate, you can choose between a range of one-year and two-year training programmes across construction site management, sales & marketing, land and planning, engineering & design, quantity surveying & buying, and other head office support roles.
Whatever route you take, you're guaranteed broad business exposure and the opportunity to learn by working in live roles. There's also structured training to meet your professional development needs, the chance to build connections across our business, and personal mentoring from one of our Directors.
We know our approach works because so many of our graduates are still with us today; in high-flying roles such as Finance Director, Head of Sales, Group Sustainability Manager and Strategic Land Manager. You can build a great career at Barratt, but the commercial and leadership skills you'll learn here are a great foundation for a career in any business.
Learning and Career Development
We all have the capacity to learn and develop our skills – no matter what level you enter the business at. That’s why we offer so many different opportunities to our employees. It’s a way of ensuring you’ll always feel challenged by your role and can perform to the best of your ability.
Everyone within the Barratt Group has access to all the learning and development they need to build a successful career with us. We welcome fresh thinking and recognise talent when we see it. And we look for initiative. If you embody these qualities then we have no doubt you’ll succeed with us.
So whether you need training in customer experience, leadership or anything in between, we’ll provide you with the knowledge you need to progress.
At the heart of our training programme is our Barratt Academy. Working in partnership with CITB – the Sector Skills Council for Construction – we offer industry-leading training through our range of programmes. These are designed for those in Sales, Customer Service, Construction, Land, Technical and Commercial disciplines. We also offer a transition programme into site management for the Armed Forces community. Each programme features both classroom and on-the-job training, and your development is overseen by a Director. It demonstrates just how seriously we take your progression.
