Job Description

Essentra is a leading international supplier of specialist plastic, fibre, foam and packaging products with three Strategic Business Units: Component Solutions, Health &Personal Care Packaging and Filtration Products. Every day they produce and distribute millions of small but essential components. Their products may not be noticeable – or even recognisable – but wherever you are, their business is all around you. Their international network extends to 33 countries and includes 53 principal manufacturing facilities, 64 sales and distribution operations and 5 research & development centres.


ROLE PURPOSE & OVERVIEW

They are looking for a Finance Graduate to join the Commercial Finance team - in the Components Division of the business - providing analysis, challenge and commercial support to the business to improve business performance and aid decision making.  

You will deliver accurate and valuable financial information to senior executives, board and stakeholders by working as part of a professional finance team. The role is based at their offices in Kidlington, Oxfordshire and is part of the graduate development programme giving the opportunity for training alongside graduates from across the globe as well as being given the opportunity to train in key international locations.


MAIN DUTIES

Reporting & Controls

  • Involvement with all aspects financial and management reporting including:

  • Daily & Weekly sales and order report.

  • Annual financial plan and quarterly forecasts.

  • Responsible for the interaction with several operating sites to advise on accounting and reporting matters and to ensure integrity of the numbers and understanding of any variances against expectation.

  • Skilled user of the group’s consolidation system (Cognos controller & TM1)

  • Skilled user of sites local accounting and interrogation systems (BPCS, Spreadsheet server and Cognos BI)

  • Critically review existing processes to facilitate improvements in the work of the team.

  • Gain buy in from operational managers and become a credible part of the site commercial and operations teams as well as an integral part of the finance team.

  • Build relationships and understand the commercial aspects of the business to become a key finance point of contact

  • Providing support to local finance teams where necessary by understanding month end processes, systems and controls.

  • Supporting the allocated sites, providing analysis, challenge and commercial support to the business to improve business performance and aid decision making.

  • Manage profit enhancement plans to ensure delivery of gross margin and operating profit targets.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and ensure they are driven through to completion.

  • Work in the UK transaction services team to understand Accounts payable and Accounts receivable – tasks here include invoice matching, statement reconciliations, progressing payments amongst others.

Qualifications
  • A minimum 2:1 degree (any discipline although finance related would be beneficial) and strong A-level results.

  • Some solid work experience in finance either as a placement year or post-graduation.

  • Keen to study for the CIMA professional accountancy qualification

  • Experience of working in fast paced, dynamic environments.

  • Able to work as part of a larger team and at times be prepared to take on work outside of the role as required helping the team meet deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to communicate effectively within finance, across functions and globally.

  • Comfortable using numerous accounting packages with a good understanding of systems

  • Flexible and motivated team player who manages and meets deadlines.

  • Strong analytical ability and attention for detail combined with an ability to take a high level strategic view.

  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously.

  • Proactive in identifying areas of improvement and working on own initiative.

  • Able to work effectively under pressure.

  • Highly organised / structured approach, with the ability to co-ordinate a large number tasks simultaneously.
