Love food and want to pursue a career that also allows you to grow?
The Management Development Services consortium offers an extensive range of opportunities across the food chain, involving growers, suppliers and supermarkets.
What does MDS do?
Management Development Services Ltd (MDS) was set up in 1986 by a group of forward-thinking growers concerned about the shortage of skilled managers within the industry.
MDS is a partnership of companies that aims to equip young people with the experience, training and mind-set so that they have the confidence and ability to rapidly become senior business leaders within the industry.
The membership includes growers, suppliers and retailers of vegetables, salads, meat products and agrochemicals as well as agronomy specialists.
Today, MDS encompasses the whole supply chain of vegetables, salads, fruit, flowers, plants, arable and prepared food products not only based in the UK but also for operations in many countries around the world.
MDS provides a graduate scheme with a difference for the future leaders of the food and fresh produce industry. Our scheme is unique in that it provides graduates with the experience of four roles of real responsibility in four different businesses.
Graduates (known as Trainees) are placed in four different secondments over two years in up to four different member companies and this could be anywhere in the UK with the possibility of some overseas placements. Secondments are combined with formal off-the-job training, coaching and mentoring.

Is MDS right for you?
Ideally, our candidates should be prepared and able to relocate every six months. You must have a driving licence or plan to have a licence prior to joining us, and you must be eligible to work in the UK (we are not a licensed provider of work permits / sponsorship). We prefer candidates with a degree level of a 2:1 or higher (although a 2:2 will be considered).
