NATS - Engineering Technician Scheme

Another option is to become part of our Engineering Technician scheme, accredited by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). It’s open to people who have completed – or who are about to complete – a BTEC ND/HNC/HND with the majority of level 3 units at either merit or distinction.

We’ve created a world-class, structured programme which runs for 18 months. You will learn how to install, calibrate and maintain our equipment as you move around different parts of the business. The more experience you gain, the more responsibility we’ll give you.

You’ll start in July with a three to four-month training period in the classroom. We call this the Basic/Qualification period and you’ll be based at our Corporate & Technical Centre at Whiteley in Hampshire.

During this time, you’ll be enrolled on the IET Engineering Technician Scheme as a student and will need to keep a personal logbook of your training and development. The initial period finishes with a formal exam, which you need to pass to move on.
