We’re very excited to announce that at Cancer Research UK we’ll be taking on apprentices in a variety of roles, from retail to customer service to technology. Keep an eye on our website from March when we’ll be advertising some of these positions in full, including our exciting Retail Apprenticeship programme.
Based in a store as an Assistant Shop Manager, you’ll gain hands-on experience and excellent training to support you in achieving the government standard Retail Team Leader over a 12 month programme. You’ll attend face-to-face training workshops covering stock management, people management, customer service, health & safety, business reporting and everything else that you need to know to be a great retail leader. To obtain your accreditation, you’ll complete assignments and have coaching conversations with a designated mentor, all supported by CRUK’s expert retail training team. Alongside your training, you’ll be delivering exceptional customer service as an Assistant Shop Manager. In this varied role, you’ll assume full responsibility for the store in the Shop Manager’s absence. You’ll support the Shop Manager to get the most from the team by ensuring that everyone is fully trained and works effectively. The role is dynamic and varied; you’ll be working with many different teams, volunteers and paid staff to maximise the store’s performance. As an ambassador for CRUK you’ll also be instrumental to making sure the shop is at the hub of the local community, acting as the face of Cancer Research UK and raising public awareness of our campaigns.
