The trick to writing a great company profile on TheBigChoice is understanding exactly what students want to know about a potential employer. Luckily for you, we’ve put in the time and the research to find out what this is. We have six top tips to ensure your profile is the best that it can be on TheBigChoice.

Write a great company summary

Students want to know about the company culture and what it will be like to work in that environment. They also want to know the approach to development, support and progression within the company. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to state all of these things explicitly, but it is important to be aware that students will be reading between the lines of what you write in your summary to formulate an idea of your company.

Include your values

If you have a mission statement or core values that run through your company – include them! It’s a great way to summarise key aspects of your work culture.

Upload videos

Your profile will benefit from the inclusion of videos. If a picture says a thousand words, then a video says a million. A short video of your office and a few words from members of staff will help students evaluate the environment and culture to see if it’s a right fit for them.

Include case studies

Case studies will also be a great addition to your profile, especially if it is someone the student can relate to. Someone their own age, or entered the company in a similar role that they will be applying for, will allow them to clearly see opportunities for development and progression. Hearing or reading about someone who has already undertaken a similar role in the company can help to comfort students, as for many of them this will be their first full step into the world of work.

Review your text for biases

Once you’ve written your profile, go through and check that the text reflects you as a company and that it is inclusive for everyone. Use online tools such as the Gender Decoder to ensure you’re not accidentally deterring potential candidates. Also, even if you feel it goes without saying, it’s incredibly important to state that you will support people with disabilities and that you are an equal opportunities workplace.

Include a link to your website

Students might want to go looking for further information, so including a link to the careers section of your website in your profile can help them to easily do that.
