Summary of the job roleSummary Butchery Apprenticeship Vacancy available Locations: BEDFORD and MELTON MOWBRAY Brief Overview of Job Role: 360 Recruitment seeks keen and enthusiastic Apprentice Butchers to join our team. You will receive quality training from both the employer and our training provider to ensure that you reach your full potential. Working Week - days: Monday to Friday Paid hours per week: 35 to 40 hours per week Wage per week: £7.83 per hour - £332.78 per week. (42.5hours) Expected Duration of Apprenticeship: 13 months to 18 months Possible Start Date: March 2019 Job Description Key responsibilities will include: - Learning a full range of butchery and trimming skills for all cuts of beef. - Ensure the safe use of knife/machinery used. - Ensure required tasks are carried out to specifications to meet customer requirements. - Using equipment provided for its correct purpose. - Ensure that correct procedures are followed for manual handling. - Ensure cleanliness of production areas. - Abide to all Health and Hygiene rules as laid out by the Company. You will undertake the Butchery qualification alongside working. Desired Skills - Have a great work ethic to learn the art of good butchery skills. - Be flexible to task requirements. - Follow instructions including those relating to personal health and safety and the wearing of PPE. - Good communication skills. - Ability to work under pressure. Tasks require a substantial amount of physical ability. Desired Personal Qualities: - Have a genuine interest in butchery. - You will be committed to the Apprenticeship and achieve all qualifications and standards attached to the training programme - Reliable. - Wants to develop. - Ability to work at a consistent pace dictated by the line speed. Works well in a team. Desired Qualifications: GCSE English and Maths or equivalent are desirable, however not essential as Functional Skills are offered as part of the Apprenticeship Standard. Things to Consider (Around the job): - You will be working in a chilled factory environment and due to the nature of the work you will be physically active for most of the day. - You will be handling knives and raw meat. - You will need to undertake initial assessments. - Shortlisting and Interviews will take places throughout the duration of the vacancy advertisement. This may mean that the vacancy could close before the published cut-off date should suitable candidates be found. - Offers of employment within the apprenticeship will only be made following successful completion of medical which includes drugs and alcohol testing. - Hourly rate is based on National Minimum Wage irrespective of age.
