Customer Care Apprentice – Class of 2018
I wasn't too happy with my GCSE results and it left me unsure as what to do next. I knew that the classroom environment wasn't for me, but wasn't quite sure who to talk to or where to look next. After spending a few years working jobs that didn't challenge me or offer a chance to progress, I was lucky to have the Princes' Trust point me in the direction of the BT Apprenticeship Scheme. After applying I became an apprentice in February of this year.
After training, I now work as a Customer Service advisor in BT Consumer where I'm the first point of contact for our customers. I've become skilled in dealing with tons of different enquiries, it certainly keeps each day interesting! Best of all, it's really rewarding to have positive experiences with our customers knowing I've helped them.
I can't say enough about the positive environment I've found myself in. My team are great, and there's a never ending list of opportunities and training available. In a few short months, I've travelled the country to different offices, met other apprentices, found a mentor and even spoken at events about the benefits of apprenticeships.
Looking back, I wish I had chosen the apprenticeship route sooner. It's a perfect way to get the best of both worlds as you have time to not only work and learn but to also consider your future and ambitions. Personally, when I joined I had hoped to eventually become a team manager but only after a few years
