Craft Aid International enables, empowers and supports people with disabilities in the UK and the developing world, through handicrafts training, therapeutic crafts workshops and social enterprise.
Craft Aid International is an innovative, creative, UK-registered charity that is transforming the lives of differently-able people locally and globally.
Craft Aid International has been established by Susie Hart MBE and a team of dedicated volunteers.
In the UK we run weekly crafts workshops for adults with disabilities in the community, providing the opportunity to learn new skills in a creative and supportive environment, increase social inclusion, reduce social isolation and also serve others through social enterprise. We also provide opportunities for differently-able people to demonstrate their skills to the public at exhibitions, events and in schools, transforming attitudes towards differently-able people in our society. We give people who often feel invisible, the opportunity to shine.
In the developing world we work with local people to establish social enterprises that provide high quality handicrafts training and employment opportunities, giving hope and a future to disabled people who would otherwise be living in extreme poverty. This also leads to changes in negative attitudes towards disabled people in their communities, as they are enabled to support themselves with dignity and pride.
