Summary of the job role

Melbreck Technical are working with a leading designer and manufacturer of special purpose machinery based near Basingstoke. Due to continued sales growth they are looking to strengthen their design capability and as such are looking for a Mechanical R&D Engineer to join their business. If you are an ambitious person looking to join a family owned, but fast growing company this position could be what you are looking for. The company machinery to the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, they are also heavily involved in the exciting 3D printing arena. The role sits under a Senior Design Engineer, within a small but pivotal R&D department and requires that the candidate be both technically skilled and willing to be hands on in all aspects that R&D are involved in. Being a small company, this can involve anything from customer facing duties to general testing of equipment and material. The focus of the role will be to develop machines across various product ranges, from concept creation, design, prototype testing through to sign-off with Engineering/Sales. You will need to be flexible in your approach, with an eye for detail and have a desire to identify and implement improvements. A sound knowledge of Solidworks (or similar) and Microsoft Office is essential and experience in an engineering environment is advantageous. You will need to be well presented, with good communication skills as you’ll be working closely with all other departments. Responsibilities and skills Concept creation and prototyping. Investigating and resolving queries, from suppliers and customers – possibly involving site visits. CAD design work - Solidworks Product and material testing. Analysis and Reporting of test findings. General duties and ad-hoc work as required. Inherent Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage and prioritise workload. Flexibility to work on different aspects of design at one time.
