Our client is seeking to appoint a mechanical graduate engineer who is interested in training for business to business sales in the engineering sector. They are interested in honest, personable Grads with a mechanical background who enjoyed their studies but see themselves doing a business role in the engineering sector. A typical candidate for this role will be someone who enjoyed their engineering studies but who sees themselves as being more suited to a customer facing or commercial role rather than something which is purely technical. The company offers a modular machine building system- consequently every sale is a one off. As a result the sales process needs an engineer who can work with the customer's own engineers to scope each project in order to secure the sales (ask the right questions and you'll be more than half-way there). You wont be presenting solutions so much as trying to work out what the best options are for your customers by building an understanding of your customers end goal. Consequently the sales process is very low key based as it is on building an understanding of the customer's intended manufacturing project and working with them towards a solution. The area you will be looking after has a large number of existing customers. You will be field based and the majority of your time once trained will be spent managing and developing this customer base, working closely with your customer's engineers on a variety of machine building projects by identifying opportunities for new machine builds and assisting customers in developing practical technical specifications for those builds by providing product expertise and support to them during this process. The customer base is a broad cross section of manufacturers which include a number of well known brands across Aerospace, Automotive and many other manufacturing sectors. Our client is not looking for experience. Instead they aim to identify candidates who are interested in working with customers in a role where they can apply their engineering studies in a commercial context. The role includes a base salary / car / training package.
